Nike SB Ebay Dunk Low
In October 2003, eBay auctioned off a special edition 1 of 1 eBay Dunk. The Dunk's colorway was inspired by eBay's logo, and the "Nike" text on the back of the shoe was modeled after the logo. The shoe sold for an astonishing amount - over $30,000. After this Dunk was sold, the only other existing sample pair that was manufactured was publicly sawed in half to prove that the only eBay Dunk in existence would go to the winning bidder.
The enormous selling price of the Nike SB Ebay Dunk, as well as the fact that the winning bidder was from Beaverton, Oregon - Nike's hometown - has led many to believe that the bid came from within Nike and that the auction was held in part to create hype around Nike SB. Regardless, the $30,000 was donated to the Tim Brauch Foundation and Skaters For Portland Skate Parks.
