Adidas first released the Oregon in 1982. The shoe originally featured a nylon upper with pig-skin reinforcements. However, after 1983 Adidas began using suede as an alternative to the pig-skin. The Adidas Oregon ustilizes a Dellinger web in the midsole wedge to absorb and dissipate shock that would otherwise affect the foot during the heel strike. Other characteristics of the Oregon include the Adidas "space shuttle" profile and the Ghilly lacing system.
The Lady Oregon was released in 1984. Adidas also released a special camouflage edition Oregon in 2002.
